Ultra-thin tablets. The MacBook Air. Everything’s getting smaller and more compact—but somehow we’re still dealing with big and bulky printers. Until Apple releases the Inkjet Air, we’re stuck with finding different ways to store our printers and make them less of an office eyesore.

If you think the desk and the floor are the only spots for your big inkjet printer, think again. You can stash your printing gear in a million different places, if you know where to look:

1. In a Closet
Whether you take the door off (like Katie of I Go By Katie did here) or leave it on, a closet is a great place to tuck away your wireless printer.

2. In a Hutch
More concealed than a shelf, look to an over-the-desk hutch as a way to stash your printer and still keep it super accessible. We love this one that was hacked from an IKEA MICKE desk and JARPEN shelves.

3. Inside a Cabinet
If you’ve got stand-alone cabinets, or a cool compartment built into your desk like in this IKEA Hacked Audiophile Worktable, you can use it to hide even the bulkiest printer.

4. On a Cart
If your printer is wired, you’ll need to keep it near to your computer—or not. If you stash it on a rolling cart, like this cool restored hospital cart storage, you can always slide your printer around to plug in where you need it.

5. …Or Just Leave it Out
Ok, so it’s not as a big an eyesore as we’d like to believe. If you’re struggling with storage, just leave your printer out on your desktop or on top of cabinets, then accessorize with things you love, like in Nicole’s Making It Lovely’s Quite Lovely New Home Office.
