Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I just moved to a studio apartment in Long Island City from another studio in Astoria. I had to downsize because the new space is much smaller, but I’m so much happier due to the peace of mind that comes with living in a newly constructed building. The amenities are an added plus. Living in NYC can be quite expensive, but I received concessions due to COVID-19, which enabled me to afford this apartment that would generally be outside of my budget.

I identify as an Afro Latina woman, a feminist, a believer. I am a daughter, a sister, a millennial. My identity is reflected in my home through the plants, art, candles, books, and music that I listen to.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Mid-century modern/boho. Cozy!

What is your favorite room and why? Having to pick a favorite room is an easy choice when living in a studio since all of my furniture is in one room! Living in a small apartment also has its downsides and limitations, however, and it’s been interesting trying to squeeze all of my clothes and other items into small spaces. I do love being able to move easily throughout the space, though, and I love that all of the pieces that make up my home can be seen in this one room.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I purchased for my home is a set of coasters from West Elm.

Any advice for creating a home you love? In order to create a home you love, you should make sure each piece brings you joy and that it generally feels like a place you find peace in. I am so happy to come home each day because my space feels very relaxing and cozy to me.
