My bedroom with the large painting above my bed that my mother painted when she was in high school!

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I purchased an apartment in Sydney, by myself, and all during a PANDEMIC! I was very privileged to be lucky enough to be healthy and to keep working through the pandemic. I had been saving and looking for a property for a very long time before the pandemic so all the stress of finding my little Goldilocks apartment was so worth it!

My maximalist living room full of art, plants, and trinkets.

I like to think of my apartment as one big DIY project; buying my apartment was also just a great excuse to finally buy that power drill I’ve always wanted. My place is a mix of mid-century and Scandinavian so yeah call me cheugy, but I LOVE IT! Pretty much all of the artwork on my walls are by friends or things I’ve painted. I love supporting my friends and having reminders of them on my walls.

I have a rule that I always have fresh flowers in my place cause they make me so happy.

I also have LOTS of plants. Plants and flowers legitimately make me happy. It sounds silly but they bring me a lot of joy in my small apartment, that I often have to stop myself from buying too many cause I’ve run out of spots to put them.

The little yellow semi-circles I painted in my lunch break one day on a whim.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Vibrant, Fun, Art-filled, Warm, and PLANTS!

The sun-filled kitchen with again more plants!

What is your favorite room and why? It’s a toss-up between the kitchen that was renovated before I bought it and gets so much beautiful light in the middle of the day and I LOVE to cook in there. But I just hand painted my bathroom floors and put in a new vanity and shower screen to better utilize the space and now it’s so colorful and fun that I spend so much time in there… getting ready of course.

My semi-renovated bathroom with hand-painted bathroom tiles.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I think that was my coffee table I found on Facebook Marketplace. My place is quite small so I really wanted a specific size table with a bit of storage underneath and this little table was perfect.

My teal velvet couch that I've wanted my entire life.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Create happy memories as soon as you can. I had a hard time initially living alone again, but I have an amazing group of friends and family who have helped me put small touches to my home that make it feel very much an extension of my personality.

My small little green space for all my plant experiments.
