A Gutted Connecticut Home Gets A Fantastic Facelift
Name: Athena
Location: Fairfield, Connecticut
The basics: 6 months, owned | 1,201 square feet
Athena’s home was the ugliest on the block (her words!) but after a thoughtful renovation it is a total suburban stunner. With a kitchen that’s to die for and rustic touches throughout, you can tell that it was a labor of love.
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My home used to be the worst house on the block (no joke, ALL of my neighbors hated my house). In six months I gutted the home with my boyfriend and his team at Blue Sky Designs. What used to be the ugliest house on the block is now the prettiest. My neighbors and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
What is your favorite room and why? The kitchen. It is the heart of the home and I love how I was able to mix a blend of rustic with modern in the style that I approached. I sourced 100 + year old barn wood for my floating shelves, herringbone marble backsplash and a waterfall quartz countertop island to make a bold statement.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I love the open concept that I created but I would still love to have the added space for a formal dining room.
Thanks so much, Athena !
