Name: Nicholas
Location: Williamsburg, Brooklyn

A writer and college professor, I fell in love with this apartment immediately when I went looking for a place to live and work. It’s an awkward space—-living room, two very small interior rooms, kitchen with small toilet room and separate shower—but it gets tremendous light.

On a budget, I mixed old family furniture and some key purchases on sale at a local furniture store, Organic Modernism. I was able to create a spacious feeling living room, a separate study, cozy bedroom, and eat in kitchen. In the summer’s I often go away to artist colonies. I wanted to create that sense of a retreat in my own Brooklyn home.
