A Cozy Retreat in Seattle for a Family of Four
Name: Rose, her husband, their two daughters and a puppy
Location: Seattle, Washington
The basics: 12 years, owned —2,200 square feet
Rose’s Seattle home is light, airy and warm, perfectly designed to combat the city’s famous gloom. Blending iconic mid-century shapes with personal touches, the home looks of the moment yet lived in and personal.
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My husband and I live here in Seattle with our two daughters and our puppy. We live in one half of the house and Airbnb out the other side. We are super hosts and have been hosting for two years now.
What is your favorite room and why? The living room. I love the picture windows that circle it with light.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? The kitchen! And raising the ceilings and putting in skylights.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A perfectly new couch on the side of the road. A family had just bought it for their daughter’s wedding for comfortable seating at the reception so as soon as the wedding was over they had no room or need for it any more. I was in the right place at the right time.
Rose’s words of wisdom: Buy what makes you happy! Don’t just buy what you think looks cool to others or stuff to fill a space, but get things that communicate who you are.
Thanks, Rose!
