A Sharp & Stylish San Francisco Studio
Name: Candida & Jeff
Location: San Francisco, California
My husband (Jeff) and I have lived in our tiny but ridiculously charming Apartment for around two years. We both wanted a home with charm, built in the 1920s and close to the ocean. We were looking at Studio and Jr one bedroom homes in San Francisco. I had actually been browsing Apartment Therapy to get inspo on how to decorate a small space, and saw a feature of a home that converted their walk in closet into a bedroom. When we went to view our now home, we saw that we could convert the closet into our bedroom! That’s exactly what we did. This freed up the space in the living room and makes you feel like you are in an actual home and not a Studio.
I love interior design and making places unique. The style in the home is inspired by my love for the desert and travel (Jeff and I try to take trips out of the country every few months). Most of the items are from flea markets (alameda flea and rose bowl flea – I grew up in LA). Perhaps my favorite pieces of furniture are the equipale chairs in the living room. I just love how unique they are and what a statement piece they have become.
The large Afghan rug in the living room was one of the first purchases Jeff and I made for the home and it’s actually the rug we got married on (we stood over it during the ceremony). We bought it at a hole in the wall rug store in Santa Barbara which is where we were married (in SB, not the hole in the wall rug store).
We also have a large white desk that used to be my dad’s old work desk that we brought back to life. I love textiles therefore we have indigo mud cloths and guatemalan huipiles throughout the home.
A bit about us: My husband works at Google as a Video Producer and I work at Airbnb in Recruiting and Social Media content creation. We are both photographers and creatives and run an online shop of handmade bags from Guatemala, where my family is from.
Thanks, Candida & Jeff !
