“This home is more than just a living space; it’s multifunctional and dynamic,” wrote Abhishek Dekate, a Toronto-based content creator specializing in transforming spaces and experiences, at the time this house tour originally published.
“From innovative home design to unforgettable hosting ideas, I bring a passion for creating environments that inspire and elevate everyday living.”
Living Room
Looking at the home he’s owned for over 10 years, a one-bedroom, 700-square-foot loft in Toronto, it’s clear how he’s been able to create a career centered around beautiful interiors. His style is a mix of mid-century modern-inspired lines with an organic modern color palette, and lots of warm lighting options.
Abhishek completed a total gut renovation of the loft, “stripping the home down to the bare bones before rebuilding. Every area, from the entryway and office to the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom, was redone.”
Kitchen
On their style: This home is more than just a living space; it’s multifunctional and dynamic. It serves as a sanctuary where I can work, create, and reset. The warmth of wabi-sabi combined with the cozy essence of hygge, results in a calming and inspiring environment. At the same time, it doubles as an office, for building a brand and growing my team.
On their favorite element: The standout feature of my home, and my personal favorite, is the stone I selected for my kitchen countertop: Calacatta Viola. This marble truly makes a statement, with its bold deep burgundy and white veining that immediately grabs attention and defines the entire space.
“What sets it apart isn’t just the dramatic pattern, but the luxurious and elegant feel it adds to the kitchen,” he writes about the kitchen stone. “The rich tones of the marble create a striking contrast with the more minimalist elements of my Japandi and mid-century modern design, adding a touch of sophistication and depth.”
“As soon as you step into the kitchen, the Calacatta Viola naturally draws the eye and sparks conversation. To me, it’s more than a countertop—it’s a piece of art that commands the room,” he writes.
Bedroom
Just some of the renovations in his home included turning the entryway into a compact home office, raising the ceiling in the kitchen, adding a sleek pocked door to the bedroom, and making a very cute reading nook in a corner of the bedroom closet.
The bedroom is a mix of soothing colors, warm wood tones, and also some dark details to add drama.
