Yvonne and Michael were undaunted by the amount of work needed to renovate this 1940s-era house that came with a bland palette of browns and beiges.

But Sasha and Andrew saw past the dated home’s quirks, bringing out all the home’s charm with their stunning remodel.

Nasty shag carpet, wood paneling, weird blocked off rooms. It had it all…and this couple didn’t want any of it. But after enlisting the help of local designer, Krista of KMSalter Design, they were able to have their dream home.

As a self-proclaimed “caretaker of dead people’s things,” Brooke’s home has no shortage of stuff. But it’s hard to come across a single item that doesn’t have a story behind it.

Name: Arden Bull Location: Port Colborne, Ontario Size: 400 square feet Years lived in: 1 year, owned This bright and airy studio is so open and full of light it’s hard to believe it’s in a basement! Although it’s a small space by square footage standards, the apartment feels huge thanks to a light wall color, open windows and tall ceilings. Arden’s smart design sensibilities have kept furnishings to a minimum, creating a comfortable home that functions perfectly for her.

Name: Tucker Schreiber Location: Little Italy — Toronto, Ontario Size: 800 square feet Years lived in: 1.5 years, rented Tucker, a product manager for Shopify, lives in this bright and open loft apartment in downtown Toronto, filled with a balance of passed down family heirlooms and IKEA essentials. Now, they’re semi-retired and their kids are grown up, so they’ve taken advantage of “slower living” in their quiet town.
