Aerin Lauder Showcases Her Beachy Designs In The Colony Hotel Christmas Takeover
If you’ve ever stayed at The Colony Hotel, you’ll be familiar with the tropical pink decor that makes this property really pop. From the bespoke De Gournay wallpaper that’s adorned with fancy foliage and jazzy jungle animals (including bejeweled panthers) to the floral furniture and rustic accents that bring everything together, it’s a whimsical wonderland that shows another side to the glitz and glamour of Palm Beach—and that’s just the lobby.
Like many other hotels around the U.S., The Colony boasts a striking holiday display, and this year, the property has teamed up with New York City designer, Aerin Lauder, for a 2021 holiday decor takeover that showcases Lauder’s signature style, as well as drawing in on cherished childhood memories of holidays in Palm Beach with her grandmother, Estée Lauder.
Aerin has designed the hotel’s lobby space for the festive season with a towering Christmas tree that features a theme of seashells and tropical flowers. The tree has been thoughtfully decorated to embody The Colony’s famed style but also brings in beachy moments that are synonymous with the Florida shoreline. On the 12-foot tree, there are mercury glass seashell ornaments and ornamental details of tropical flowers, birds, and fish. Playful colors dominate the tree, with hues of pink, blue, and gold taking center stage, but are not too overpowering that the decorations take away from the rich green color of the branches.
Fans of the hotel are delighted with the new addition to the luxurious lobby, with many taking to the comments on a recently shared Instagram snap.
“Such an inspiration! 🎄💗🎄💗🎄💗🎄Love it!” wrote one person.
“I could not have dreamt up a more dreamy Christmas tree if I tried” commented another.
