When my husband and I moved into our two-bedroom townhome, I thought I’d finally unlocked the dream: more square footage and even a second floor. But I quickly realized that while the home was bigger, the storage wasn’t. There was no garage, attic, or basement — and without the storage closet I’d relied on in our old apartment, I had to get creative.

Because I’m someone who cares as much about aesthetics as I do about function, I needed a storage solution that looked good and worked hard. That’s why I was excited when Albany Park offered to send me their Barton armchair and storage ottoman to try. It’s been a total game-changer.

What Is the Barton Storage Ottoman?

Albany Park’s Barton Storage Ottoman is designed to pull double (or even triple) duty. It measures 39 inches wide, 25 inches deep, and 18 inches high. It works as an ottoman, a coffee table, or an extra seat, but it also hides a roomy storage compartment inside. The lid has a soft-close feature with concealed hinges, so you’d never guess it’s holding anything at all. The brand offers multiple colors and fabrics, including tan vegan leather, olive velvet, dark gray tweed, and hazelnut bouclé. I opted for the alabaster performance bouclé. It feels both sophisticated and cozy — exactly the vibe I aim for in my home.

Why I Love This Storage Ottoman

This ottoman instantly solved one of my biggest storage headaches. Instead of leaving plastic bins out in the open or trying to cram extra blankets into my one upstairs closet (which is already filled with boxes of seasonal decor, pool bags, and gift wrap), we now use the ottoman as a discreet linen closet at the foot of our bed. It holds towels, throws, and blankets, and it makes grabbing one super easy.

Even better, it doesn’t look like storage. It looks like a chic, oversized bench that blends seamlessly into the rest of our bedroom. And knowing it pairs with the Barton chair in our living room makes me feel like I can reconfigure it later — maybe in an entryway or as a coffee table — if we move to a larger space.

The Barton Storage Ottoman proves that small-space living doesn’t mean sacrificing style for practicality. It’s versatile, elegant, and secretly hardworking. For anyone who needs extra storage without adding clutter, this piece is a smart investment — and one I know we’ll be using for years.
