Summer is here, which typically means warmer weather for most parts of the country — but this year, it’s meant a sticky, sweaty, and even dangerous heat wave washing across many parts of the U.S. and around the world. Obviously, climate change is affecting every part of the way people live, down to where and whether they choose to buy a home. But on the small, day-to-day level, once you’ve made your zero-waste swaps, you’re probably just trying to find a way to stay cool without crying when you see your electricity bill.

And in that case, this $9 doodad from Aldi might just do the trick. The Crane USB Neck Fan may not be the sexiest accessory you’ve ever seen, but when it comes to wicking sweat from your face, does anything else really matter? If I had a dollar for every moment I’ve stood on a subway platform wishing for a gust of cool air, I would have enough to buy everyone I know 10 neck fans of their own.

You can find the fan in Aldi’s Weekly Finds flier, as well as in the aisles of your local Aldi. In case you want to coordinate with your outfit, it comes in royal blue, green, orange, pink, light blue, and yellow. It’s lightweight and foldable, so you can tuck it away in your bag when you enter the AC without it taking up too much room. Plus, it has seven fan blades and various speed levels, so you can set it to create a breeze of your choice (which you can also angle to your preference, as it’s adjustable).

As for charging it, no need to carry around extra AAA batteries. The fan uses a USB-C charging cord, though take note that it’ll need a few hours to fully charge back up.

Whether you’re cleaning up around your home and working up a sweat (or trying to use your AC less often), hanging out at a friend’s barbecue, or spending the day walking around, this $9 neck accessory might just be the cool reprieve you need to prevent yourself from melting into a sweaty puddle.

If you can’t make it to an Aldi but you know you need this pocket-size breeze, you can also find this neck fan on Amazon. At $33, it has a steeper price tag, but it gets rave reviews — and Apartment Therapy Shopping Director Jada Wong swears by it personally
