Something about spring always makes me want to shop. Maybe it’s the fact that my spring cleaning just cleared out space for new stuff, or maybe it’s just something in the (deliciously fresh) air! But between refreshing my wardrobe, my vinyl collection, my pantry, and my home, I’ve got to be careful about budgeting so I can save some room for spending this summer.

Enter: Aldi! This budget-friendly supermarket superstar might be more well-known for its grocery and garden items, but its oft-overlooked home decor section is full of hidden gems. To help give my tight budget some direction, I spoke to a designer to find out how she might decorate for spring with Aldi items — and on a budget of just $50 or less.

Shamika Lynch’s Favorite Aldi Finds

Shamika Lynch, founder and principal designer of Maximizing Tiny Interiors, knows a thing or two about shopping for spring. “I’m based in the Northeast (New Jersey), where we can only enjoy the outdoors a few months out of the year,” she tells me. “Here in Jersey City, we have a limited amount of outdoor space and a limited amount of indoor storage — but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of what we have.”

So she’s leaning into spring with some outdoor decor! Check out the designer’s spring-inspired Aldi “haul” below, and don’t forget to check Aldi’s weekly deals for home decor scores.

Belavi Decorative Glass Table
$15

“Aldi has these adorable folding tables at $14.99 each that can be stowed away indoors when not in use — either at the side of the fridge or in a dead space in the closet,” Lynch says.

Belavi Solar Geometric Lantern
$7

No space is complete without lighting — and yes, that includes outdoor spaces. "These solar-powered rechargeable lanterns add to the ambience by providing ambient lighting for a relaxing night on the balcony," Lynch says.

Kirkton House Ribbed Glass Candles, 2-Pack
$5

"This set of two candles is so chic," Lynch tells me. "And when the candles burn out, the glasses can be used for jewelry or toiletry storage around the house."
