Aldi Is Selling Gorgeous Purple Orchids for an Unbeatable Price (Grab 2!)
With stunning blooms and dainty green stems, it’s easy to see why orchids have remained a beloved houseplant for new plant parents and seasoned green thumbs alike. Despite what you might have heard, taking care of an orchid plant isn’t as notoriously finicky as it’s often made out to be. So if you’re ready to road test your green thumb and add one to your home, you might want to get to Aldi ASAP.
TikToker Alyssa (@aldi_finds4u) shared the news that Aldi is selling orchids for $11.99 in a recent video where she highlights recent Aldi product additions. In the clip, she pans over bloomed orchid plants in a teal planter with beautiful purple flowers.
In the words of one TikTok commenter: “Runs to Aldi right now.”
When you’re caring for an orchid plant, make sure to never repot your orchid using traditional potting mix, since they’re air plants that naturally grow on rocks and trees and will be stifled by too much soil (or soil that’s packed down). Instead, use a soil mix made with bark, vermiculite, sphagnum moss, and/or perlite. (You can buy an orchid-friendly potting mix from The Home Depot so you don’t have to worry about making your own.)
You also want to avoid putting your orchid in direct sunlight. Instead, try placing it in a west- or north-facing window (depending on your home) that gets morning or afternoon sun. And whatever you do, don’t overwater your orchid. If you decide to replant your orchid in a cache pot — which is a plastic pot inside a pot without drainage — it’s best to empty the cache pot after watering so your orchid isn’t sitting in standing water.
These $11.99 orchids aren’t available to order on Aldi’s online shopping website, so you’ll need to get to the store as fast as you can so you don’t miss your chance to buy one. However, you can buy select $5.99 Aldi orchid plant varieties via Instacart delivery in select locations.
