There’s no time like the present to sink your teeth into a new hobby—because, well, there’s literally nothing else to do. Take inspiration from Amanda Seyfried, who has become the master of granny squares during her period of self isolation. She’s been keeping her Instagram followers updated on her granny square #WorkInProgress, and although it’s unclear what she’s planning to make with all these crocheted squares, it’s going to be beautiful, whatever it is.

Seyfried posted her first update on March 16, captioning the post “Self-isolation squares #wip.” Using a variety of pink, red, yellow, orange, and multicolored yarn, Seyfried dove head first into the square production, and was pumping them out at a rapid pace.

And that pace kept getting faster. By March 18, Seyfried had nearly doubled her stash. “Social-distancing squares update #wip ✌🏼,” she captioned the post. An olive-green yarn had been added to the equation.

She had also taken a break to crochet these adorable shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day.

By March 20, Seyfried had 56 squares completed.

And by March 24, the project nearly doubled. The colors together give off a slight Easter vibe, which is very appropriate for the spring season.

As of April 4, the squares have multiplied at such an alarming rate, we’re a bit concerned for Seyfried’s safety. If she goes missing, at least her Instagram followers will know to look for her within her mountain of granny squares. Perhaps she is just riding that #Knitflix train (that being knitting/crocheting while watching television).

On Wednesday, followers got a look at the finished product: a blanket. It’s hard to tell just how large it is or if Seyfried intends it to live on a bed or sofa, but it definitely brings the grandmillennial vibes.

If you’re looking to embark on your own yarn-filled journey, here’s what you’ll need, and here’s where you can take some classes.
