Whether you’re in the market for a tiny home to make your full-time residence or you’re trying to level up your existing property with an accessory unit that comes with all the special features, Amazon has got you covered. Case in point: Amazon is selling a 108-square-foot Allwood Cabin that’ll make the perfect rustic tiny home or additional unit for about $8,000.

Just in time for summer, Allwood’s Escape Cabin Kit, which is also available on the company’s direct website for $5,950 before taxes and shipping, will virtually transport you to a lakeside retreat whenever you walk into your yard. The 108-square-foot tiny home, which looks like it belongs nestled in the middle of the woods, is perfect for people who want a tranquil sanctuary just steps from their home.

While purchasing through the Allwood website means you’ll have to pay shipping costs, it might be worth it if you want to customize your new tiny cabin or even give it a vacation accessory. You can purchase a mini bar starting at $228 or extra wall planks starting at $295 on the company’s website to take your new accessory dwelling to the next level.

The charming one-room wooden property features an all-wood build and Allwood’s signature wind-block wall planks, while shuttered windows and the glass paneled door open to bring in fresh air and sunlight. The roof also hangs over in front, creating a protected space to put a little outdoor chair and table for your morning coffee or, if you really want to lean into the rustic camping vibes, a firepit for s’mores.

While the property measures a little over 9 feet in diameter and 8 feet in height, its relatively small space makes it best for use as a home office, crafting or tool area, workout room or yoga studio, or even a mini guesthouse. You’ll need — at least — a 13×9-foot area in your backyard to ensure you have enough space to build.

Some things to keep in mind before you buy this tiny home: While the building’s description says it’s weather-resistant, the wood is untreated, so you’ll need to stain or otherwise weather-treat it to ensure it stands up to the elements.

Additionally, the cabin kit comes with floorboards and floor joists, but depending on your needs and how much time you’re spending in the space, you’ll need to purchase insulation, a concrete foundation, and roof tiles separately. People who want to use this cabin as a workspace will need to look into installing plumbing and electricity. You’ll also want to contact the manufacturer to understand just how much wind and weather this cabin can resist.

Of course, all these additions will add to the cost of the Escape Cabin, especially if you decide to hire contractors to make it come together, but it’s definitely well below the average new home cost of $420,000. Contractors might be a good decision if you don’t have a lot of experience building, according to numerous reviewers.

One happy customer on Allwood’s website said having someone help build their “oasis” was well worth it for them to make it a functioning home office. “We hired a contractor to lay down concrete pad, assemble, add electrical conduit, add patio and stain. We get so many compliments from neighbors, and the kids want to use it as a clubhouse.”

Buyers also had good things to say about the appearance of their new backyard abode. Some people called out the cabin for being “even cuter in person than it is in the pictures,” while others said the “quality of the wood and hardware is top-shelf.”
