These $2 Amazon Gems Made My Basic Black Dresser Look Like Fancy Vintage
Recently, I decided to purchase a new dresser for extra clothing storage in my small New York City bedroom. While I love decorating with vintage pieces when possible, I ordered a standard double dresser for the sake of time and budget — I desperately needed to quickly find something. The dresser itself has been a total game-changer (my long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts no longer have to live in the same drawer, which is huge!), but it definitely isn’t the most exciting piece of furniture that I own, looks-wise.
So I decided the best way to spruce up this basic black dresser would be, of course, to change out the drawer pulls, a tried-and-true hack that has served me well over the years. In my decade-plus of apartment living, I’ve changed out the hardware on my kitchen cabinets, nightstands, desks — you name it, I’ve done it. I didn’t want to spend too much on this project but also wanted to source hardware that would complement my style. My bedroom contains mostly vintage, Parisian-inspired finds and a lot of brass accents, so I wanted to look for pulls that play to that aesthetic.
Luckily, it only took a brief scroll through Amazon for me to come across this stylish four pack of drawer pulls for just under $10. I ordered two to account for all of my drawers, and they arrived in just one day’s time via Prime shipping.
I had high hopes for these pulls, given the 4.4-star rating on Amazon, and they actually ended up being better quality than I could have imagined. As someone who is well-versed in antique and vintage home decor, I appreciate how authentic these pulls look. They definitely pass as the real deal, thanks to their old-school teardrop shape, aged bronze finish, solid metal construction, and flourished design details. They’re very intricate, much more so than I expected for their roughly $2.42 each price tag. Installation was a breeze; it took me no time at all to remove the old knobs and replace them with these.
Keep in mind that these pulls are on the smaller end, though, so definitely make sure the dimensions will work for your project. Despite their size, these pulls still function perfectly and have a nice feel in hand. I open my dresser drawers many times within the course of a given day and haven’t had any issues with them at all. I like that this hardware isn’t too dresser-centric either. I could see these pulls looking great on a cabinet, credenza, or vanity, too. It’s perfect for anyone who loves vintage vibes, and the price point is the absolute cherry on top.
