I Test Bedsheets for a Living, and This $15 Amazon Set Is One of My Favorites

I try my best to be thrifty when I’m finding new pieces for my home — I usually don’t buy anything from my favorite brands until there’s a sale, and I scroll through Facebook Marketplace even more often than Instagram. However, there is one kind of item that I’m not afraid to splurge on: bedding. I take my sleep very seriously, so everything from my mattress to my sheets has to be perfect. 

After almost two years in this gig, I’ve tried out enough bedding to consider myself something of an expert on the category — if I do say so myself — especially when it comes to sheets. From Pottery Barn’s breezy linen set to Ettitude’s supersoft bamboo one, I’ve slept on some of the best bed linens out there, and I’ll admit, my favorites have traditionally had a steeper price tag.

Of course, there are a few exceptions, and one of them is this Bedsure sheet set. Its current sale price at Amazon? Only $15. I know it sounds unbelievable, but I really do find myself reaching for these versatile sheets again and again.

The 98,000-plus perfect ratings might’ve had something to do with that, too. This top-selling Amazon set stands apart from most other budget-friendly sheets because, for one, it has gorgeous ruched hems. Running along the top of the flat sheet and on the sides of the two pillowcases, the texture takes its appearance up a notch. So do the rich colors that the set comes in, which are produced using a dyeing technique that prevents fading. And there are 30 shades to choose from!

Most importantly, the OKEO-TEX Standard 100-certified polyester microfiber fabric is brushed on both sides, so it’s buttery and smooth to the touch. It’s also made using a premium plain weave, upping the durability.

I live in a studio, so my bedroom and living room are all rolled into one. Because it’s always out on display, my bed has to look nice so it doesn’t disrupt the rest of my apartment. For that reason, I usually try to find sheets that have a little something extra going on. Usually I go with a unique color or interesting print, but in this case, it’s the ruching that steals the show. I don’t often see sheets with such a detail or any texture at all, really. It makes the pillowcases look more like shams, which I love!

Of course, the true concern I had with these sheets was how well they’d hold up when they cost under $20. Well, I’ve been putting them on my bed on and off since Christmas — they’ve been used and washed about four times — and there’s no piling, snags, or loose threads to speak of. And they’re so soft right out of the gate and feel the exact same way after regular use.

I wouldn’t really say that these sheets are cooling or insulating; they fall right in the middle, making them perfect for year-round use. In addition to being one of the most versatile sets in my collection, it also might be one of my most low-maintenance. It’s no wonder Amazon shoppers can’t seem to stop buying them — I want another color!
