White entryway with black cow spot wallpaper and lots of small shelves and hooks

When you live in a small home, you often have to get crafty with how you use the space you have. You may not have the room or budget to create a dedicated mudroom just inside your front door, but if you have a little bit of wall space nearby, then you can install a brilliant Amazon find that transforms the smallest of entryways into a much more functional area.

Instagram user Julie Lancia shared a video of her own entryway space, which is both a mudroom and a laundry room. This multi-functional area looked a bit cramped for trying to put on shoes before heading out, and it lacked a place to sit comfortably while doing so, but there was literally nowhere to put a chair in the first place. There was room for an ingenious little fold-away bench, though, that sits flush against the wall when not in use.

“Now this is a serious SOLUTION!” Lancia wrote in the caption. “We’ve wanted something like this, imagined something like this … seriously for years! We really didn’t think it existed.”

“It is incredibly well made and well designed. It’s perfect,” she continued in her caption. “Oh, did I say I installed it myself in less than half an hour (using my auto screwdriver of course!).”

This small-but-mighty bench from GraceNook on Amazon folds out with a single pull and then folds back in with a push. It extends out enough from the wall that you can store shoes underneath it without obstruction, too. You don’t have to leave it unfolded 24/7, though — it looks fairly unassuming when it’s not in use, and you can even consider painting it to match your wall color

“Amazing space saver,” one person wrote in their Amazon review, adding, “I love it for my small NYC apt!!” Another person said, “The wall chair is perfect for our mudroom. My wife loves how it folds up out of the way.”

So if you’re wondering how to make the most of your small entryway, consider giving this simple wall bench a try and maximize the minimal space you have!
