A Professional Designer Called This Free Interior Design Service “Truly Magical”

You can use Article’s free design services for several kinds of projects, like designing a new space, redesigning an existing space, or just exploring layout options. The process begins with a simple online questionnaire, where you can detail the area (from entryways to living rooms), your projected timeline, whether you have kids or pets, and whether you’re starting from scratch or not. 

There is a notes section, so feel free to add more context or necessary information for your designer there. Alexis recommends coming prepared with a measured floor plan (don’t forget to include windows and doors!) and share anything that’s been inspiring you — even if it feels random. “The more context you give your designer, the more personalized and spot-on the results will be,” Alexis recommends.

From there, Article’s team of experts will create a custom design layout of your exact room with the dimensions and furniture options placed inside. Alexis says, “It made everything feel tangible, and it took away all the second-guessing. I didn’t have to visualize — I could see it right in front of me.” And then you can easily order the items you want from the plan — many of which are on sale right now — and await delivery.

Even though Alexis and Hannah, her Article designer, never met in person, Alexis still felt “seen” and “deeply understood” throughout the process. First, Alexis sent Hannah screenshots — “just random saves from social media that had caught my eye over the years.” And from there, Hannah presented two concepts — both of which completely captured Alexis’ style (and as a designer, Alexis knows how tricky that can be). 

“As someone who’s constantly exposed to different aesthetics and design ideas, I thought narrowing it down would be simple — but I loved both options so much. In the end, we blended elements from each to create a version that felt truly personal,” Alexis says.

Her favorite piece? “The console under the TV,” Alexis says. It brought her dream to life in a way that exceeded expectations. “The wood tone is so rich, the quality is beautiful, and it instantly elevated the whole room,” she says.” Every time I walk by it I’m reminded that, yes, design really is magic.”
