I Tested Article’s Secret Under-$800 Sofa, and I’m Honestly Shocked It’s Not Viral Yet
Earlier this year, I got the opportunity to visit Article’s flagship showroom in Vancouver to test the brand’s sofas in person. I was practically starstruck to see its most popular sofas (like the Sven sofa and the Riley sleeper). IRL after seeing them online for years. I also discovered a new, under-the-radar model while walking the showroom floor, the Hanson Sofa, and it doesn’t get nearly enough hype.

Why I’d Recommend the Hanson Sofa to Anyone
For starters, the Hanson sofa’s compact, 80-inch-wide frame is a perfect fit for any apartment (it’s why I named it the best option for small spaces!). It’s also under $800, which is a fabulous deal for a sofa, but especially for Article sofas, which are as well-made as pricier brands.
The Hanson looks so much more expensive than it is, too. It features a rounded silhouette and tapered, solid-wood legs that give it a stylish, mid-century modern vibe. I saw it in the Thistle Green upholstery, a polyester chenille fabric that feels velvety smooth to the touch and boasts a luxe sheen. While the color options are limited, the tones are soft enough to suit virtually any space, regardless of decor style.
How It Performed
You might think that the Hanson sofa’s lower price means that it’s less comfortable. But after sitting on it myself, I can say that’s 100% not the case. Its loose seat and back cushions are filled with a blend of foam and fiber, which gives the couch its plush yet supportive sit. Even better, the cushions bounced back when I got up from the sofa, so it’s not a couch that will need constant fluffing to keep its sleek, tailored shape.
The seats aren’t too deep at 21.5 inches, so I didn’t feel like I was totally sinking in, and instead, I could sit upright and feel plenty comfortable. If you’re someone who plans to work, eat, and lounge from your sofa, the Hanson can fulfill all three uses and look incredibly polished while doing so.
