Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: Oh man! I love this space. It’s filled with all the things I love and nothing I don’t. My goal was to embrace the fun of different shapes/textures and create a space that I could sink into and enjoy every night.
I consider myself a hobby creative (creative for fun but not $$). I love to try new things and experience what life has to offer, whether through travel, rollerskating, cooking, or drawing/painting/embroidering. Much of this is woven throughout the studio with love.
Whenever I travel, I try to bring home a piece of art as a special memento of the trip. This now lives throughout the apartment, and brings me so much joy when I think about all the memories associated with each piece!
I’ve DIY’ed a few pieces too (art can be pricey!), and it’s fun to know that these are low-stake hangings that I can always update if I get bored or want a refresh.
Overall, I try not to take life too seriously and wanted my home to reflect some whimsical fun, too.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Beachy, sun-filled cottage oasis
What is your favorite room and why? I love love love the backyard — especially living somewhere with nice weather year-round, I feel very lucky to have a private space where I can enjoy it to the fullest. Even though I live in a studio, it often feels like a one-bedroom since the patio functions as another room.
The table outside extends to seat up to seven, which is also amazing when I want to invite friends over!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I just bought some cowboy hats for my yard flamingos in honor of the season (Halloween), as well as mini Santa hats when it’s time to swap them out come November.
Before that, my boyfriend helped pick out some awesome paper lanterns for the backyard and an orchid for the main living room, both of which make the spaces feel SO cozy.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Have fun! If you see something that makes your heart flutter in a silly way, you should probably buy it.
Also, comfort over everything. You have to live in this space, after all.
