I move a lot in my sleep — so much so, that my side of the fitted sheet is almost always uprooted from the mattress by morning. I’ve tried buying deep-pocket sheets to account for this, but they’re no match for my nighttime acrobatics. I was tired of adjusting my sheets every morning, so I decided to try something new: the Bed Scrunchie. It’s a clever little contraption that keeps my fitted sheet securely in place all night long, no matter how aggressively I move. Now I won’t make my bed without it.

What Is the Bed Scrunchie?

The Bed Scrunchie is pretty much a stretchy, bungee band that keeps fitted sheets from coming loose and converts a top sheet into one that’s fitted. Here’s how it works: Clip it to the edges of your sheet, then put the sheet on the bed as you would normally. Once the fitted sheet is on, pull the drawstring cord tight to cinch the scrunchie under your mattress, and lock the sheet firmly into place using the attached buckle. Then sleep soundly knowing your sheets won’t become a mangled mess throughout the night.

Equipped with eight wide-mouthed plastic clips, the Bed Scrunchie offers a 360-degree hold that won’t damage your sheets. It even claims to withstand up to 30 pounds of resistance, which means even the most restless sleepers (or hyperactive pets) won’t shake the Bed Scrunchie loose from your mattress. It also fits mattresses of all sizes.

Why I Love the Bed Scrunchie

I thought the Bed Scrunchie sounded a bit gimmicky at first. But it actually worked exactly as promised, and kept my fussy fitted sheet tightly adhered to my mattress right up until laundry day.

There is a bit of a learning curve to getting it set up, but Bed Scrunchie has a video and clear instructions that help make it easier. Before I put my fitted sheet on my bed, I simply turn it upside down on my mattress (with the elastic side facing up) to attach the clips. Clipping the scrunchie to the sheet is pretty straightforward, and I didn’t have any issues with them coming undone as I put the sheet on my bed. I did have to lift the corners of my mattress up slightly to help the Bed Scrunchie slide underneath, but not any more than I would normally when putting on the fitted sheet.

I position the Bed Scrunchie so the drawstring is easily accessible at the foot of my bed. So once I have the sheet on, I can pull the paracords tight, then tuck them underneath the mattress. You’d never know that there was a nifty Bed Scrunchie underneath the bed — my husband had no idea I was using it until we changed the sheets the following week! It also gives my bed a more finished, hotel-like look.

The first time I used the Bed Scrunchie, I attached it to a fitted sheet that was on its last legs due to multiple tears above the elastic (from pulling it too tightly to keep it from coming loose). The scrunchie ended up working so well that I was able to squeeze more mileage out of that sheet before I finally ended up tossing it. It’s a testament to how compatible the Bed Scrunchie is with all sheets: top sheets, fitted sheets, or ones that are literally hanging on by a thread. And if you host overnight guests on your sofa, for example, the Bed Scrunchie seamlessly converts a top sheet into one that fits perfectly onto couch cushions.

Attaching the Bed Scrunchie does add about 10 extra minutes to my sheet-changing routine, but it’s so worth it to me. I don’t waste time frustratingly fixing my fitted sheet every morning, or get stirred awake when the sheet snaps up in the middle of the night. I now sleep better than ever!
