Plenty of people redo old furniture to give it a second life but most of them don’t transform their former changing tables into super-chic, almost unrecognizable pieces. Claire did.

From Claire:

This particular DIY dresser makeover project is extra special. It’s a very common pine dresser; you’ve probably seen a million of ‘em. I have too. But this particular dresser was my childhood changing table. My parents bought it used, hauled it home and used it for the next 25 years – first as a changing table and later as the gloves/hats/scarves dresser in the front closet. When I look at it now, I get a little thrill — it’s mine, it fits my decor and it looks awesome.”

To get that amazing distressed finish, Claire sanded her heart out and then used a grey stain (Minwax Classic Grey) which contrasted beautifully with the dresser’s reddish undertones.
