You know we always love an IKEA hack, but this one is pure, unadulterated genius. Jacob dismantled his old MALM double bed and was left with two sets of slats. Rather than throw them away, he found a way to upgrade these leftovers into a whole, new project.

So awesome! The chest is not only made from repurposed materials but Jacob also cleverly made a table with storage — one of our favorite small space tricks.

From Jacob:

I had the idea to try and make them into a rustic looking coffee table/storage chest that could be used in our living room. After taking apart the slats, I built up the frame before staining the wood and adding some metal ring handles. I also painted the inside yellow, so now it reminds me of a glowing pirate’s treasure chest.

Thank you Jacob!
