Leslie found this neglected 1960’s hutch in a thrift store — shoved in a corner and piled with stuff. She could see its potential — how well made it was but she didn’t like the dull brown wood. Says Leslie, “Colors are my thing, and I could see this fantastic piece could use some cheering up.”

Wow! Cheerful, indeed. Leslie’s color-blocking choices sure aren’t for the faint of heart. She’s proven herself a true color-lover.

From Leslie:

I used this outrageous orange because I suspected that most of us are longing to be this daring, but somehow neutral usually wins out. It took a lot of labor—sanding, filling, priming and painting, but very little cost — a quart of primer and a couple of quarts of good quality paint.
