Diana and her husband love their recently updated kitchen but it made their living room pale in comparison. So these self-proclaimed DIY-ers got to work sprucing up this space on a budget that was based on what the old on-their-way-out items could be sold for…

From Diana:

My living room is constantly changing but I don’t buy out of my budget. I sell what needs to be gone and with that money I buy the new things I need. Last October we redid our kitchen which looked great but I realized my living room was pretty dull. Being DIY-ers, my husband and I got to work. He built the shelves and I filled, sanded and painted them. He built and stained the storage boxes on the bottom shelves. And I cleaned a rug from the basement and painted stripes onto it. I know it takes time to find the perfect vase or tray or whatever will be needed. And although I really want the room to be finished, I know in time it will be filled with more love and lovely details.
