This space provided lots of challenges! It was long and narrow, did not have a natural focal point and the budget needed to remain around $1000. To make things more complicated the client wanted to keep the gender of their baby a surprise and create a nursery that was modern, gender neutral, mature and utilized mostly neutral colors.

To set the theme for the space I started out by selecting a great Gray wall color, Sherwin Williams 6001 Grayish. The crib, changing table and dresser were repurposed from their older child. To create a focal point behind the crib I used large scale white polka dots to stand out against the gray from Urban Wall Decals.

To create more interest and a faux mobile affect I used three large-scale Kladsam Mobiles from IKEA above the crib. The pop of yellow and the bird shape dictated the rest of the decor. Abstract bird illustrations from Etsy seller Modern South brings in a modern and mature feel to the space.

To create a comfy seating zone for mama we repurposed their old rocking glider but ditched the ottoman that came with it, instead opting for a knit ottoman from CB2 and a plush faux sheep rug from Ikea.

To create balance across from the window a large scale round mirror from Wayfair was placed above the dresser, helping to reflect light and provide repetition with the wall decal colors and shape.

Overall the project came together great, with the step-by-step design directions and shopping guides we provided the client was able to pull together their dream space just in time for baby to arrive!
