Lauren and her husband spent their home budget on upgrading the things they couldn’t DIY. So after they moved in, they went to work on personalizing the builder basic areas, like this bathroom—for under $400.

Lauren painted the vanity an airy gray, added labels to the drawers to combat clutter, and framed out that moulding-less window. The frameless mirror got replaced with a matching pair found on clearance.

She didn’t stop there. Lauren upgraded the basic shower door by making it look like a factory window. She also added tea-stained pine planks coated in marine poly to the tub wall for a warm touch.
