How do you balance the need for updates when you’re waiting to do a larger remodel? Ashley and her family faced that exact conundrum when they set out to spend not a ton of money on a bathroom update that’ll get them through the next five years.

From Ashley:

Our goal with this DIY bathroom update was to modernize it and make it fit us without spending a ton of money. This bathroom will eventually be part of a large scale remodel, but eventually is the key word. We didn’t want to live with the bathroom for another five years until we could do large remodel. We decided to go the DIY route making smart decisions that we wouldn’t regret when we changed things up in five years.

This was our first large project that we started in the house. Before starting it, we had never done ANY electrical, plumbing, tile work, caulking, baseboards, etc. So, the learning curve was HUGE. Let’s just say we lived to tell the tale.

We spent just under $1,200 and came away with new flooring, plumbing, sinks, faucets, toilet, electrical, lights, decor and more! We couldn’t be happier with our update!
