Mel was hired by her clients to breathe some style into this workable, but very dark, slightly cramped bathroom. Using a single piece from the client's old house as a jumping off point, she identified their style and found solutions for their pain points while giving them the look they wanted. Beautiful blue tile, a subtle yet stylish light fixture and funky accents create a bright bathroom oasis.
From Mel: The stained glass window, hung in the window and saved from the client's first home, was the inspiration for this bathroom.
Our theme was "neat bohemian", whose contradiction was not lost on us, yet nevertheless provided a great deal of amusement for us all. Ultimately the goal was to remove the dark elements of the bathroom and replace them with colors and fixtures that are airy and light. The harsher beige color was replaced with Benjamin Moore Calm (02-22).
The bathroom sconces are Schoolhouse Electric Irvine Double sconces in satin nickel using their straight bell shades with gray bands. The faucet is Koehler IV George's Brass. The counter top is made of quartzite. The shower tiles are 4x4 squares in Dodger Blue Viscaya Glass made by Nemo Tile.
The bathroom closet is enclosed by a grey bifold closet door with custom stenciling. Ultimately, my clients could not have been more pleased with the transformation of this small space.
