Benjamin Moore’s 2025 Color of the Year Is a Surprisingly Versatile “Neutral”
Last year, Benjamin Moore invited interior designers and DIY enthusiasts to dive into the world of deep, violet blue after naming Blue Nova the 2024 Color of the Year. For 2025, the paint brand is still encouraging us to step outside of our neutral comfort zones, but slightly dipping one toe back in with their most recent Color of the Year pick: Cinnamon Slate (2113-40).
Described as a moody “heathered plum and velvety brown,” Benjamin Moore’s 2025 Color of the Year provides a pop of color without straying too far from a neutral color palette, and purple-lovers are going to have no problem hopping on this trend.
“As the use of more saturated color in design has increased in recent years, we are seeing a growing interest in more nuanced colors, whose undertones add intricacy and dimension,” Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore’s director of color marketing and design, said in a press release. “Cinnamon Slate is an inviting hue that offers enduring style and modern sensibility.”
Magno added that Cinnamon Slate offers “depth and richness” that feels approachable and comforting, and it works just as well in traditional interiors as it does in modern ones.
Like years past, Benjamin Moore also released a full Color Trends 2025 palette in tandem with the Color of the Year, featuring 10 hues that all seem to strike a balance between warm and cool. Each also offers a richness that will instantly give a space so much depth. Colors in the 2025 palette include Leather Saddle Brown (2100-20), Sea Salt (CSP-95), Stained Glass (CSP-685), and Paris Rain (1501), among other quiet-yet-moody tones.
