It’s the most wonderful time of the year — at least, it can be, depending on where you celebrate the holidays. Whether you choose to spend it with family, friends, or on a festive vacation, there are plenty of elements that contribute to people’s Christmas destination of choice. But when it comes to the U.S., which are the best cities in which to celebrate the holiday?

In order to determine the best 2022 Christmas destinations, WalletHub compared the 100 biggest U.S. cities across 32 categories, from costs to a city’s overall generosity to the percentage of the population that is fully vaccinated.

First place goes to Seattle, Washington, which also ranked No. 1 in the study’s generosity category. The city goes all out for Christmas, from creating a massive Sheraton Grand Seattle Gingerbread Village to putting on an annual Winterfest event.

Atlanta, Georgia comes in second place. Visitors can check out a wide range of holiday events, including Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Holiday in the Parks at Six Flags, and the Atlanta Christkindl Market

Third place goes to Las Vegas, Nevada. Although the famous party destination is better known for its wide range of New Year’s Eve offerings, it’s also a solid spot for celebrating Christmas — particularly when it comes to its array of shopping options, which helped Sin City reach No. 1 in WalletHub’s shopping category.

These are the top 10 U.S. to celebrate Christmas this year, according to WalletHub data:

  1. Seattle, Washington
  2. Atlanta, Georgia
