We Searched Thousands of New Home Products — These 10 Were the Clear Winners
We love a home-focused trade show at Apartment Therapy. They’re amazing for discovering new makers and brands and spotting the biggest decorating trends. The latest show of the year that’s on our radar? Shoppe Object New York.
Held earlier this week in New York City at the Starrett-Lehigh Building, Shoppe Object always delivers some of the hottest new home decor, textiles, kitchen products, and giftables you’re going to want for your home. Think of it as a crystal ball for emerging design trends that editors and retailers spot first — before they make their way to consumers. Here’s what caught our eye and earned Apartment Therapy’s “Best In Show” seal — and what you should look for coming to market this year (if it’s not available already).
Piecework Throw Pillows
We ate up Pieceworks’ food-themed cocktail napkins at last year’s show. Now the brand’s expansion into homewares continues with these pattern-drenched throw pillows.
Featuring frilly, oversized ruffles and a playful variety of prints, these pillows are just plain fun. They’re pretty much a maximalist’s dream, so keep an eye out for them to land on Piecework’s site soon.
Blueme Ceramic Candle
While refillable candles aren’t necessarily new, few brands are making them quite like Blueme. The spa-worthy scents are housed in chic, pedestal-style vessels, all handmade from textured ceramic, so they’re a decorative accent in their own right.
You can even add custom engraving, making them the perfect gift or party favor. When the candle has burned through, just pop in a new wax refill.
Redezign Tesser 5:3 Portable Lamp
This Brooklyn-based lighting brand immediately caught our eye with its Tetris-like lamp, which casts such a beautiful soft, atmospheric glow. But the coolest thing about them is how versatile they are.
Stack multiples to create a custom, sculptural lighting moment, or turn one into a space-saving wall sconce with the Tesser adapter.
Native Union POP Phone
The landline renaissance is alive and well, and Native Union’s POP Phone brings you one step closer to that old-school experience. We loved the latest glossy, colorful finishes that give the Pop Phone its vintage vibes, and the coiled cord that’s practically made for fidgeting during phone calls.
Plug it into your phone’s USB-C port, and just like that — poof! You’re back in the ‘90s.
St. Bingo Magnetic Frames
New-to-market homewares brand, St. Bingo specializes in folk-art-inspired pieces with a playful, modern twist. We gushed over just about everything on display.
These magnetic photo frames were a standout. Arrange them separately on your fridge, or layer them together to give photos extra charm.
Misette Forme Wax Candlesticks
Misette is one of Apartment Therapy’s favorite tabletop and lifestyle brands, and the first product we ever covered from the brand was a pair of patterned candles. Now, the company is back with the coolest candle housewarming gift that’s also perfect for creating a memorable centerpiece: The Forme Wax Candlestick.
The colors and all-wax construction are totally modern. The shape, though? It feels like a throwback to simpler times.
Octaevo Mediterraneo Serving Board
Charcuterie is still such a hot entertaining trend. But if your skills at arranging cheese and crackers leave something to be desired, just get a cuter board!
The new Mediterranean design from Octaevo features a gorgeous checkerboard pattern in pretty blues and greens. It’s also crafted from sturdy resin, so it’s pretty substantial, too.
Printworks Art Keeper Book
Ever think your kid’s art — or even your own! — is coffee table book-worthy? Well, the Printworks Art Keeper Book makes that a reality.
Not only does it save space (since it can house almost 20 drawings), you can also write a little bit about each piece so you can remember the story behind it. Right now, Printworks also offers an older model.
Addison Ross Mahjong Set
The Mahjong craze doesn’t appear to be slowing down. And now Addison Ross, one of Britain’s most stylish brands, is launching its r own mats, tile sets, and travel bags, all of which are launching soon.
Yes, they’re pricey, but there’s a range of different mats that go with all of the tiles. And this is an heirloom product you’ll have forever.
Typical Hair Wrap Towel
Typical creates revolutionary towels, thanks to the little bit of stretch the company adds to them. It’s such a small detail, but oddly enough, it hasn’t been done before.
Now, they’re back with a hair wrap that’ll actually stay on your head. That way, you can keep going about your day as your mane air dries. It’ll be up on the site in a few colors soon!
