I Finally Got the Bonne Maman Advent Calendar, and Now I’m Getting It Every Year (It’s My New Holiday Tradition!)

It might seem a little early to think about the holiday season already, but the under-100 days until Christmas countdown has already begun. I love Christmas and I’m counting down until the big day, but I surprisingly have never actually owned an advent calendar. So when I got the chance to try the iconic Bonne Maman Advent Calendar, an advent calendar I’ve long had my eyes on, I had to get it. Would it live up to my expectations and make me an advent calendar convert? Spoiler alert: It did, and now I may never go back.

The Bonne Maman Advent Calendar has been a fan-favorite advent calendar for years, so much so that sales are limited to two calendars per order, and right now, delivery is only within the U.S. Each year, the limited-edition spread includes 24 individually boxed mini jars filled with flavors you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. It’s recommended to enjoy the jars before June 2026 (although you are sure to finish it way before that, in my opinion).

This advent calendar retails for $54.99 and typically shows up on the company’s website in September to give customers plenty of time to purchase as many as they like (as gifts for themselves or for others!) ahead of the busy holiday season.

The whimsical Christmas packaging made opening every single box feel like a treat itself. It was like I was unwrapping a tiny present, and the gift inside was an adorable mini jar filled with a delicious spread with a unique flavor combination. From a wild blueberry maple syrup spread (which might be the perfect breakfast toast spread) to ones with lychee, caramel, or even pink peppercorn, there were a lot of exciting mixtures to try. 

I won’t spoil the flavors for you (the wild blueberry maple syrup is listed on the website), but I can tell you that I saw some interesting combinations and ingredients that I didn’t expect. I had a lot of fun ranking the spreads (Day 7, 22, and 24 were among my top favorites) and getting creative on what to do with each one beyond smearing it on a cracker. For instance, I could envision some of them being better with yogurt, baked into a cookie, or even used in a cocktail or mocktail recipe. 

Another thought I had was what to do once the jars are all used up and cleaned out. I figured I could use them all around my home. For the holidays specifically, I could create a really cute garland of mini jars filled with red-and-green decorations. Or beyond that, they could be great for storing condiments, seasonings, or even mints. I love the idea of breathing new life into these adorable mini jars, and maybe even reusing the tiny boxes they came in to decorate my tree with. They are Christmas themed after all!

All in all, I’m so glad I finally got my hands on the Bonne Maman Advent Calendar, and it might just be my new tradition for years to come.
