It’s safe to say that 2023 has officially been the year of the bow. From bow-inspired holiday decor (ahem, “bow girl Christmas”), to shower curtain bows, and everything in between, this year has proven that bows have a place in every room of the house. And in true bow-obsessed fashion, we found another ingenious way to add bows to your kitchen, bathroom, or really any other room you want. Enter: the “bow towel” hack.

It’s so simple, it’s hard to believe you didn’t think of it first! TikToker Brieana Banks shared the adorable hack (with many other DIY influencers sharing their own versions, like Aurelie Erikson did), and the bow girlies can’t get enough. All you need is two dish towels and a cabinet — here’s how to make it.

  1. Take two dish, kitchen, or hand towels and fold both into thirds lengthwise.
  2. Then, take one towel and fold the ends in slightly before folding it all in half so the folded ends meet. Pinch the middle of this towel to achieve that bow crinkle effect (you want two or three crinkles).
  3. Take the other towel and wrap it over the middle of the pinched towel, then pass the lengths of the towel through your cabinet pull. Et voilà!

If you don’t have pulls on your cabinets or drawers, you can also use a rubber band or hair tie to attach the bow to your knobs. Put these simple bows on your nightstand, dresser, bathroom vanity, kitchen island, or anywhere else you think needs a little extra flair. While it’s great for the holidays, it totally works year-round — and especially at birthdays, baby showers, or other events — if you just can’t get enough bows.

Not only is this hack so on-trend, but it’s also super practical. Your towels stay in place when you need to wipe your hands, or you can simply slip it out of the pull, use it to wipe up a spill, and put it back, or replace it with another kitchen towel. It’s the decor gift that keeps on giving!

While you can use any hand, dish, or kitchen towels you already have, of course, it helps during the holiday season to have some festive kitchen towels for your bows. Opt for these red and white plaid towels, red, green, and white-checkered towels, a Christmas print-decorated set, or this gray snowman-adorned set. The world really is your bow-shaped oyster!
