Castlery Opened Its First U.S. Flagship — Here’s Everything You Need to Know
One of the more career-affirming occurrences for me as a shopping writer is getting to see a brand I’ve only ever seen online, in real life. It sounds silly, but I honestly feel starstruck. That’s exactly how I felt when Castlery, the Singaporean furniture and decor brand, finally opened its first U.S. store in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood earlier this year. Until then, you’d have to fly halfway across the world to touch and feel its quiet-luxury-esque furniture in person before buying it. I was so over-the-moon about the store opening that I high-tailed it over there to test sofas for AT’s Personal Shopper series.
It’s been a few months since the store opening, but, if you ask me, the 3,000-square-foot showroom deserves its due. I’ve paid it multiple visits this year, and if you’re in the NYC area then I highly suggest you do the same. Here’s why.
Castlery’s First U.S. Store Is in NYC
Castlery’s pieces are small-space-friendly, so the brand is uniquely positioned to help shoppers solve the pitfalls of city living (hence its store presence in Singapore and NYC). The furniture is also highly customizable, and so stylish given the accessible price tags.
Take the editor-loved Dalton Bed, for example, which features storage drawers on all sides. Or the modular Mori sofa, which can be configured for living rooms of any size — and you can see both at Castlery’s showroom.
What to Expect at the Castlery Store
There are 17 roomsets, each with its own personality to paint the picture of what Castlery pieces will look and feel like in situ. The sets aren’t overcrowded with merchandise, and leave space for shoppers to imagine themselves fully in the set. Artfully curated down to decorative accents like lamps, rugs, and pillows, the sets are chock-full of styling inspo and really clue you into how to arrange Castlery furniture in your own home. For a second opinion, Castlery’s Interior Stylists are always on standby to offer one-on-one design services, totally free of charge.
If you’ve spent time on the Castlery site, you’ll know that their product selection is huge — more than what any showroom could feasibly carry — so don’t expect to find the brand’s entire assortment at the store. However, the Castlery team does refresh the space with new arrivals and the bestsellers their local audience loves. Sofas are probably the most represented category, with the family-friendly Dawson sofa and the Auburn sofa (which happens to be one of Castlery’s most budget-friendly models) both making an appearance, last I checked. Get a feel for all the different upholstery options in the store or take a swatch home with you if you need more time to think about it. There were only three beds on display when I last visited the store (the Miyo Bed, Esmee Bed, and Dalton Storage Bed), so plan accordingly, or call ahead to see which models are currently on display.
The Furniture You Can’t Miss at the Castlery Showroom
If you made it this far, you’re probably checking your calendar to see when you can squeeze in a visit to the Chelsea store. Here are the pieces I’d check out first.
