Location: London, UK
My name is Cat and I live in London with my Texan partner, Matt, and our scrappy ginger kitten, Chutney. We are both terribly boring lawyers in our day jobs, but we are also the couple behind Take Courage Blog, a London-based lifestyle blog which we've been running for four years.
Living in London isn't cheap, and we have lived in some horrendous, tiny rentals over the years. However, in every place we've found ourselves, we've worked hard to make it our own, on the most minuscule of budgets. With the exception of our bed and our sofa, every piece of furniture is either second-hand or completely upcycled, sourced from car boots, junk shops and even off the side of the road!
I often share home-related DIYs on Take Courage, but I hadn't quite realized how many of our belongings were "projects" until I recently posted our flat tour. The five photos I have uploaded to this submission form are from those posts, (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Balcony).
I have been hugely inspired by the house tours on Apartment Therapy, and have learned that having a stylish and comfortable home doesn't have to cost the earth. You just need a little patience and imagination. We moved into the flat in July, and I'm really proud of what we've achieved with the place — it's a small rented two-bedroom flat in a converted Victorian hospital, and it was in really bad shape when we moved in (the boys who lived there before us must have been neanderthals). We rolled up our sleeves and got to work, and the result has been that we've turned a neglected space into a happy home!
