Chewy Sends Flowers to Customers Who Have Lost Their Pets
Losing a pet is really hard. They’ve been a staple part of the family, sharing their unconditional love all throughout their lives, so it’s important that you take the time to grieve, heal, and look back on the wonderful times you shared with your four-legged friend. For bereaved pet parents, Chewy.com is giving back to customers who are experiencing the loss of a beloved pet, and it’s the most wholesome things a company can do.
Understanding the pain that comes with the loss, the pet retailer has been sending out sympathy flowers to its customers. Earlier this month, one Twitter user shared that she had been sent a bunch after she contacted Chewy.com to return an unopened bag of dog food.
“I contacted @Chewy last week to see if I could return an unopened bag of my dog’s food after he died. They 1) gave me a full refund, 2) told me to donate the food to the shelter, and 3) had flowers delivered today with the gift note signed by the person I talked to,” she Tweeted.
Quickly gaining traction, the post, at the time of writing this article, has received over 739,000 likes and 43,500 retweets. Fellow Twitter users responded to the gesture of goodwill, sharing similar stories.
“Chewy is a phenomenal company, when my dog passed away this last February they sent us a hand painted portrait of her that has sat on her ashes ever since. Much love!” one person replied.
It’s not just Twitter users who are feeling the love from the retailer. There are several Reddit threads from grateful pet parents who had the same great customer service during a difficult time.
One user emailed Chewy.com to see if they could return an unopened bag of cat food, and they received a heartfelt email from a service representative, explaining the process and offering a full refund. A few days later, a bunch of flowers arrived.
“…As if that wasn’t enough, today my doorbell rings and it’s a delivery guy with a really nice vase of flowers and a sympathy card from a local florist, sent from the same Chewy rep that processed our refund,” the Reddit user wrote. “The whole response has been kind of unbelievable.”
Another took to the site to share their positive experience with the company.
“Chewy.com sent us a sympathy flower arrangement when they learned about the passing of our 10-year-old Labrador, Forrest.” they said, along with a photo of the flowers.
Selling pet food, accessories, health treatments, and more, Chewy.com’s passion for its customers and their pets really shines through. In addition to its kind and thoughtful approach to losing a pet, the company prides itself in its Chewy Gives Back program, donating more than 97 million pet products to shelters to ensure rescue pets get the quality care that they deserve.
