In Germany, where this renter lives, it’s common for rental units to not come with a kitchen — the renter must build their own!

This apartment is only 470 square feet, but feels way bigger.

“The room now feels like a warm hug when I walk in,” the DIYer says.

“It was my first time really taking a corner from ‘blank and awkward’ to ‘built-in and intentional,’” the DIYer says.

After dreaming of a fireplace for years, I finally made my own in my 10th apartment.

“This was very cost-friendly and fun,” the DIYer says.

It came with great bones, like a fireplace and original woodwork.

“As a homebody, introvert, and remote worker, it feels especially important to create a space I truly enjoy being in,” the renter says.

The layout was entirely overhauled.

And it has the prettiest accent wall.

“When one piece of furniture can play double duty, it’s a win for me,” the DIYer says.

Plus, there’s cool new texture and hardware.

There’s even an indoor trellis!

"I had been getting really inspired by rich burgundy tones in homes," the DIYer says.

It proves every corner counts!

It took less than 10 minutes.

“We didn’t want to pour money into a rental, so it had to be budget-friendly,” the DIYer says.
