I’m Never Buying Another Standard Bath Towel — This One Is Way Better
I’ve used a lot of towels in my lifetime — both as a layperson and while testing them for work — and I’ve found I’m pretty flexible on a lot of things. I like super fluffy towels, but I can also get behind lightweight waffle towels. Crisp white is great for uniformity, but fun colors work for me, too. Fringed, ribbed, plain… that all sounds great. But there is one thing I will simply no longer budge on when it comes to purchasing bath linens for my home: I will never, ever buy another bath towel. It’s bath sheets only for me! And one stands out as my favorite: The Company Store’s Green Earth Quick Dry Bath Sheet, which is on sale for 25% off for Black Friday with the code BFDEALS25.
What are bath sheets, anyway?
Um, bath sheets are basically the same as bath towels, I can hear some of you saying. Wrong! Bath sheets and bath towels might be alike in almost every single way, but there is one distinct difference: Bath sheets are way, way bigger than bath towels, making them far superior, in my view.
My very favorite bath sheet of the moment is a pale green ribbed bath sheet from The Company Store that’s 100% organic cotton. The material is super soft and exceptionally effective at absorbing moisture — especially with its generous 39 inch by 68 inch size, which allows me to wrap the entire towel around me like a little cotton cocoon.
This towel gets a lot of use, and it’s only grown softer with time (I’ve had it for about two years). I only have one of these, so I am quick to wash it once it goes into my hamper so I can reuse it as soon as possible! Aside from the absolutely luxurious size, the light green color makes it seem extra fancy.
Why I Love Bath Sheets Instead of Bath Towels
If you’re not yet convinced re: the superiority of bath sheets over bath towels, let me break it down for you.
There’s no universal standard size for bath towels, but most are about 27 to 30 inches wide; bath sheets, on the other hand, are typically about 35 to 39 inches wide. That means that you can get about 8 more inches of coverage, minimum, by using a bath sheet instead of a bath towel. This comes in clutch for anyone who’s on the tall side (not me) or anyone who likes to be cocooned in the warm embrace of bath linens after a hot shower (very me).
The length difference is significant, too! Bath towels are about 54 inches long, while bath sheets are about 60 to 68 inches long. Wrapped around your body, that length translates to extra coverage around your middle — making these towels better suited for a wide range of body types.
Not only are bath sheets more luxurious than their smaller counterparts, but they’re also more effective at actually drying you off, in my experience — more fabric means more absorbing power! And the price difference is often around $20 to $30, which feels like an increase that’s well worth it to me.
