This year, I learned that Matthew McConaughey and I have something in common (!): We both sleep in a queen bed with our respective spouses. While his reasoning for not having a king-size bed is less about space constraints than mine is (I’m guessing he doesn’t hole up in a New York City apartment), I still felt very seen by his confession.

Honestly, my husband and I like our queen-size bed — especially considering we shared a full-size mattress for nearly three years before upgrading. But when your mattress size doesn’t feel straight out of a luxury hotel, your sheets certainly can. So when I had a chance to try COOP’s TENCEL Sheet Set, I said yes immediately.

What Is COOP’s TENCEL Sheet Set?

This super-soft sheet set comes with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and two pillowcases. It’s offered in a wide range of sizes, from twin to California king, but I obviously went for the queen size. The three color options are soothing neutrals: White, Dove Grey, and Cream (I went for the Cream).

To me, the biggest standout feature is the TENCEL fabric (a brand name for a manufactured, lower-environmental-impact fabric designed to be soft and smooth). The set is made of 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell, which is breathable and cooling, but feels like silk straight out of the packaging. The other benefits of this fabric, according to the website, is that it’s lightweight, wicks away moisture, and prevents bacteria from building up.

The other unique aspect of these is the full-edge elastic on the fitted sheet. While I didn’t initially think much of it, it’s turned out to be a godsend.

Why I Love COOP’s TENCEL Sheet Set

So, that full-edge elastic. Here’s why it’s so great: I tend to thrash around while I sleep. All that shifting and tossing around does a number on sheets. It displaces the top sheet (which I hate anyway) and tends to pull up the fitted sheet. With older sheet sets, we were tugging down the fitted sheet every single night, which was likely due to imperfect sizing and elastic that wasn’t strong enough.

We’ve been using the COOP sheets since June, and I think I’ve had to readjust the fitted sheet twice during that time. The full-edge elastic is so sturdy and strong, that it really just stays put. It’s a small difference that made me realize how annoying it was to constantly have to readjust my old sheets. I still thrash, but with way less disturbance to the bed setup.

Aside from that, these sheets are just ridiculously soft. We washed them before using them, and they came out of the laundry feeling irresistibly cozy (and they’ve remained so through all the washes since, which makes getting into bed feel like a gloriously comfy homecoming). They really feel so light, but also sturdy, and I wish I had a backup set for when these inevitably start to wear thin.

At $219 for the queen-size set, they’re slightly pricey. But I’m really thrilled so far with the softness and quality of these sheets. If you’re a hot sleeper, or someone who looks forward to getting into bed every night, then I highly recommend these.
