Sometimes the best things in the kitchen aren’t actually the food or the fancy gizmos and gadgets — they’re the stellar finds that help make the cooking, cleaning, and hosting effortlessly easier. So when two recipe editors on opposite sides of the country at The Kitchn raved about this $20 Costco gem, I knew I had to spread the good news. Enter: The Martha Stewart Anti-Fatigue Kitchen Mat.

The stain-repellent, foam comfort support 20”x39” kitchen mat comes in blue, brown, and gray for the unbeatable price of $19.99 at Costco. With the non-skid backing and a beveled edge for easy stepping, it’s the perfect accessory for anyone who loves to cook or host in the kitchen — especially before the busy holiday season arrives. Shoppers are raving about how much pressure it takes off your feet when you’re standing for hours on end, and even claim it’s a dupe of Ina Garten’s favorite $120 anti-fatigue mat.

Costco regulars and The Kitchn recipe editor-producers Patty Catalano and Christine Gallary swear by this smart anti-fatigue kitchen mat whether they’re cooking, cleaning, or simply standing and catching up with friends in what’s by far the busiest room in the home.

When it comes to producing new recipes, it can take hours to perfect the technique and proportions for each dish — and our recipe producers know that all too well. “Cooking for my family and recipe testing for The Kitchn adds up to long hours on my feet,” Catalano said. “Luckily, this cushy kitchen mat from Costco makes a big difference in how my feet feel at the end of the day. Plus, since crumbs are inevitable on the kitchen floor I love that this mat is so much easier to clean than others I’ve owned in the past.”

Gallary impulse-grabbed hers because the one she had was “very industrial-looking and just plain ugly.” While she notes it isn’t quite as stain-resistant as her last one which had a vinyl coating, “the cheery print on the new mat has brightened up my kitchen floor, and it’s super-comfortable to stand on, very plush, all for the great price of $20.” It’s clear Martha knows a thing or two about style and function.

Although the exact Costco mat isn’t available online, Martha makes similar anti-fatigue mats on Amazon that are perfect for the kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, or anywhere else you find yourself standing for extended periods (or where you may just want some extra comfort).

Until there’s a method for cooking, cleaning, and hosting while sitting down, we’re going to stick with Martha’s smart mat. Run, don’t walk, to your local Costco before it’s gone!
