Costco’s Brilliant Screen Door Is Finally Back, and Shoppers Say It’s a “Total Win!”

It’s always nice to get some fresh air, but it can feel downright delightful on the first nice day after months of cold, wind, and snow. That feeling of delight can quickly turn sour, though, when you realize your quest to air out the house has brought in the kind of uninvited guests with wings and multiple legs. A screen door is a great solution here, allowing you to get all the natural light and cool air without fear of pesky flies getting in (or pets getting out). If you don’t already have one installed at home, note that Costco just restocked a popular retractable screen door that’s simple to install and costs less than $200. Buyers love it so much, they call it a “total win.”

According to a video by Costco fan account @costcobuys, the warehouse chain is once again selling this popular retractable screen door, which you install within a door in your home that leads to an outdoor space, be that a yard or simply the front porch. 

You’ll need a power drill to install the door, but the product listing says it should only take about half an hour thanks to “quick-snap track assembly.” You can see in the video that the in-store price for this door (at least at that Costco location) is $169.99, but you can also get it online for $199.99.

The version depicted in the video is the “standard” size, measuring slightly more than 80 inches tall, 2.75 inches deep, and it can be adjusted from 32 to 26 inches wide. If that doesn’t work with your home, there are three more sizes: short, which is 78 inches tall (just 2 inches smaller than the standard size) and tall, which is a much larger 96 inches in height. Both additional sizes are a bit pricier on the Costco website, though — $219.99 for short and $329.99 for tall. You can also choose from a white, brown, light brown, or black finish. And in case you’re wondering, the screen part of the door has “subtle stripes” to make sure no one accidentally bumps into it.

Not everyone has a Costco membership or even lives near a Costco, but this exact retractable screen door is also available on Amazon. You can choose from three sizes (standard, short, and tall) and three different finishes (white, brown, and black), and no matter what the price stays the exact number of $365.43. This isn’t too different from the Costco price if you need the largest-size screen door, but if you only need the standard size, it is substantially pricier.
