The Cozey Atmosphere Sofa Secretly Creates Storage Out of Thin Air

After nearly seven wonderful years with my Albany Park corner sectional (which they sadly do not make anymore), it was time to trade it in for something new. Every member of my family, including my dog, was mourning the impending loss of our beloved sectional, so I knew it was going to take something really special to get them all excited about a new one. I needed a sectional that was durable yet stylish, and it absolutely had to be easily washable during this phase of my life with two young children. After some extensive research, I landed on the Cozey Atmosphere collection. 

With fully removable and washable covers, a seriously gorgeous selection of colors and fabrics, and plenty of space for everyone to sit (and, let’s face it, jump), the Cozey Atmosphere checked all my boxes. For my living room, the four-seater with corner configuration fit our space and needs best, and we went with the cypress green corduroy fabric with round arms and the storage seats. 

The Cozey Atmosphere sofa is one stunning piece of furniture. The curved arms and back give the piece a modern, luxurious look, but it’s not so stuffy that you feel like you can’t hunker down and take a nap. The sectional configuration I chose, a four-seater with a corner, is a little over 8 feet wide on both sides, so there’s plenty of room to stretch out. 

As of right now, I only have the green corduroy fabric covers on the couch, but I am fully planning to explore new fabric options in the future when I want to change things up. But so far I am impressed with how comfortable the corduroy is; it’s not at all scratchy. 

Delivery was quick (note that at this point in my media career I’ve had many things delivered to my house, and trust me when I say it was quick) and only took seven days to get to my house. In fact, it was so quick that I hadn’t yet sold my Albany Park sectional on Facebook Marketplace, so that had to be moved promptly to the basement in pieces. 

The driver dropped off dozens of boxes, all of which had the labels of what piece of the modular couch you would be opening. The boxes were large and a bit hard to maneuver up the stairs from the basement, but that would literally be any couch (with maybe the exception of maybe a small IKEA one). My husband and I got into a rhythm: I would carry the boxes up from the basement and he would start organizing and opening them. Before long, the living room was a sea of cardboard. It was a pretty overwhelming number of boxes, but to be fair it was also a large sectional. 

Once we started to assemble the Cozey sectional, it was clear this was going to take awhile. Not only did you have to assemble the structure of the couch, but you also had to put the cushion covers on. We put the sectional together on a rainy Friday afternoon and my two small children were crawling through the cardboard boxes and jumping up and down on cushions. In my estimation, if you don’t have two kids, it might take two adults two or three hours to assemble the sectional without distraction. 

I won’t sugarcoat it: The couch assembly was difficult. The instructions were incredibly clear (there are even videos to help you!) and the boxes were labeled helpfully, but the act of putting it together was just hard. The cushion covers in particular were tricky to get on correctly — and each fabric cover had to go in a specific way over the frame as well as the cushion where you sit. If I had to do it over again, I would highly consider an assembly service from TaskRabbit and get a pro on this. 

However, all this to say, do not let a tricky assembly deter you from buying this couch. Modular couches are not easy to put together, but it’s truly only half a day of working on it. If you are not handy or you just don’t want to deal, do yourself a favor and hire the TaskRabbit or other furniture service assembly provider. Otherwise, it’s just one short day in the grand scheme of owning this lovely couch. 

I fully believe the Cozey Atmosphere couch would be a great addition to any living room. I love how customizable it is — from the fabrics to the layout configurations to the seat choices — so no matter the size of your space, you can find a good fit. What I’m most surprised about is how comfortable the seats are even though we have hidden storage underneath it. My husband was worried that it would feel unsturdy because it was essentially hollow, but the frame of the couch is strong and it just somehow works. 

The couch is comfortable beyond belief, and I think it looks absolutely right at home in my space. The curved arms are modern, but give it such a cozy touch. I am also in love with the green fabric (make fun of this millennial all you want; green is it for me forever). But if I ever want to swap it, I can easily order a different fabric color and instantly change the tone of the room. 

The storage is also fantastic for our family. We were considering doing the sleeper option just to have more space for guests, but decided the storage would be the better bet. I’m so glad we stuck with our choice because it’s been great for clearing up space in our dining room and sunroom where the toys somehow keep piling up. 

We’ve already had an ice cream spill and several peanut butter smears on the couch. It has wiped up beautifully without me having to remove the covers. At some point I am certain someone will either bleed or vomit on it, so I’ll come back to report how easy it is to remove heavy stains from the covers.

All in all, it’s safe to say we will be enjoying the Cozey Atmosphere for the next decade to come.
