This Is the New “It” Mirror, and You Can Find it for Just $75

If you’re familiar with the craft of tramp art, you probably have an image of intricately carved wooden boxes, lamps, mirrors, furniture, and frames in mind. Recently, however, I’ve been seeing an updated version of a tramp-inspired mirror — perhaps better identified or described as a cross-corner mirror —popping up all over the place, from social media to big home decor brand’s new collections. These pieces are a great addition to a gallery wall (see what designers Kennesha Poe-Buycks of Restoration House and Cassandra Lavalle put together above), but they can also hold their own in an entryway over a console or in a bedroom over a dresser. You can also use similar versions in powder rooms, and I’ve even seen a tiny tabletop tramp-inspired mirror on open kitchen shelving.

This modernized design is much simpler and usually made of metal rather than notched wood, though you can find styles in a variety of materials and finishes. While this mirror is on the pricier side, both sizes available are quite large and would make a statement in any room. This beauty will set you back more than other options, but if you’re searching for authentic tramp art, this mirror from the 1870s (yep, it’s over 150 years old!) is the real deal. Of course, other antique options are out there, but this one is an example of a more streamlined piece with a similar profile as the rest on this list.
