Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I am a resident physician at a hospital in New York City. I live in a studio apartment in a building subsidized by the hospital. All of my neighbors are other residents, fellows, and their families. It’s almost like a dorm for grown-ups!
What is your favorite room and why? The beauty of living in a studio is that it’s all one room so I don’t have to choose! But my favorite part of my house is the sitting area. I love curling up to read or watch TV in my big comfy rattan chair. The large window provides great natural light and I like the way the trees look in the window. And every time I look at my papaya wallpaper I smile!
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Mid-century Mexican.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I would update the kitchen cabinets and flooring. I’ve been debating painting the kitchen cabinets but I think the building manager would kill me.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I recently visited Korea with my family and found a cute art print of the Jeju Haenyeo, these amazing female divers who harvest shellfish from the ocean floor without using oxygen. I framed it and hung it in the bathroom.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Let it be a work in progress. And don’t be afraid to try that bold wallpaper!
