Take a scroll through Design Within Reach’s website, and it’s essentially a shopping smorgasbord of iconic designer names: Fritz Hansen, Herman Miller, Knoll, and so on. As much as I would love to bring home an Eames chair or authentic Noguchi coffee table, the majority of the high-end home brand’s offerings fall a little — ok, a lot — out of my price range. But fear not, modern design lovers! You can still get DWR’s coveted contemporary styles on a smaller, more attainable scale via their home decor selections. Even the addition of a cool new candleholder or colorful bathroom hand towel can up the ante on your space, minus a major splurge. Below, I rounded up eight of my favorite Design Within Reach decor finds, all under $100, featuring everything from portable lamps to coffee table books to versatile trays. Consider these little accents proof that you don’t need a bottomless collector’s budget to actualize your dream modern design scheme.

Say hello to one of my favorite bathroom upgrades: a patterned hand towel. For just $25, this small, absorbent pop of color gives your space a more well-designed aesthetic — especially hung in tandem with the matching bath towels.

A contrasting piped border turns an otherwise simple linen-cotton pillow into a sofa standout. Choose from seven different color combos, from red-on-bright-blue to a more subdued off-white with black trim or the pair-with-anything gray shown here. Bonus: The insert is included, too.

Lean into the scallop trend via this unique, modern-looking candleholder. I especially love the fiery red coupled with a white taper (but only ones that measure eight inches tall or less), which works well styled on its own or with any of the five additional colorways.

Colorblocked shower curtain = instant bathroom makeover for less than $50. Made from recycled polyester, this machine-washable accent layers a cool, large-scale checkered look to any shower setup.

Hay’s geometric Kaleido Tray collection is designed for mixing, matching, and stacking in a range of colors and configurations. I’d suggest starting with a large or extra-large size: It works well as a standalone piece, or later layered with smaller trays to designate individual storage spaces.

Usually, even the smallest of portable lamps can cost, ahem, a lot, which makes this under-$100, indoor-and-outdoor-friendly style feel like more of a steal. Yes, at less than nine inches tall it’s still relatively small, but count on the plug-less, water-resistant design to brighten up bedside tables, bookshelves, and anywhere in between. Plus, it comes in a handful of fun single-toned or multi-hued color schemes.

Art history and/or coffee table book enthusiasts, this one’s for you. Described as a “book tour” of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art = showcases more than 800 famous works over a 6,000-year time frame, all encased within a punchy purple and red hardcover.

This hand-painted stoneware vase comes from Hay’s recent Sobremesa collaboration with New York-based artist and chef Laila Gohar. Although on the more expensive side, the sculptural, striped object screams timeless decorating keepsake — think evergreen table centerpiece or nightstand focal point.
