Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: Our home is a DIYers paradise! My hubby does wood working as a hobby, and he has created so many of the pieces in our home—from giant pegboard shelves, to a sunburst coffee table, to a magical TV stand that lifts the TV up when we want to see it, and down when we want it out of sight (we call it the Harry Potter TV stand because our kids think it is that magical!).
While he is woodworking, I am busy thrifting eclectic and unique pieces for our home! My favorite thing to thrift are baskets, and I am slightly addicted to wicker—my hubby lovingly dubbed me the “wicker picker.”
We’ve added DIY touches to pretty much every space in our home—we have a floor-to-ceiling headboard with twinkle lights built into the wood of the ceiling part in our master bedroom, penny tile that says “Hello” in our entryway to welcome guests into our home, and we paint our front door a different color every year on the anniversary of the day we moved into our home—this year it’s teal!
We love making our home a special, cozy, and unique place for our family to live in, our dogs and cats to roam around in, and our friends to visit!
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Whimsical, Eclectic, DIYed, thrifted, and fun!
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is our living room! I love it because it is full of pieces that my husband has made for us, which makes it such a happy place to be! We can look at our family photos on the pegboard shelves that he built, watch “America’s Got Talent” together on our magical TV stand, and cozy up together on our wood-sided couches (we had to get couches that our cats wouldn’t be able to scratch up—a problem we have had in the past)!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last purchase I made was a gorgeous NuLoom rug, which is colorful and really ties our living room together!
Any advice for creating a home you love? I always say that the more “you” your home is, the more you will love it! If you want teal kitchen cabinets, or patterned floor tiles, and they will make you happy, go for it, and don’t worry about future resale value! Do you in your home—be bold and unique, and your home will make you smile every time you walk into it!
