These Outdoor Lights Look Built-In, but They’re Actually Renter-Friendly
The official start to summer is just weeks away, and there’s nothing I love more during the warmer months than spending an evening outside, enjoying the night breeze, and hanging out with friends and family. The thought alone is charming enough as is (hello, it’s summer!), but a solid outdoor lighting setup can elevate the whole vibe even further and add some much-needed ambience in a very low-lift way. If you’re over the look of hanging bistro lights or just want to explore something a bit different for the exterior of your home, I recommend taking a cue from DIYer Kayla Nelson (@homediyary).
To add a glow and enviable ambience to her home’s exterior, Nelson turned to Enbrighten’s 50-foot Eternity Permanent Outdoor Lights, which come attached to a string for easy setup. She attached them to her roof’s eaves and used a drill to secure them for a permanent and weatherproof solution. To top off the setup, Nelson made the idea even smarter and synced the 36 LED lights with the Google Home app, which allows her to change the color and intensity of the bulbs from her phone.
“[These lights] are the ultimate permanent lights,” Nelson wrote in an accompanying Instagram post. “All-weather, plug-in, and you can even cut the strand to a custom length, so you don’t have the remainder of the strand dangling with a few lights left on the strand. 😅”
The Enbrighten Eternity Permanent Outdoor Lights are available to order from Amazon for $159.99. However, right now they’re on sale for 19% off ($129.98, or $2.60 per foot). If you’re looking for a bit more lighting, you can also order 100-foot lights for $249.99, or 150-foot lights for $349.99.
Based on the lights’ Amazon reviews, Nelson isn’t the only person happy with her purchase — they currently boast an impressive 4.5 out of 5-star rating.
“We love these permanent lights,” one 5-star reviewer wrote. “[They’re] easy to control, and we can pick the colors we want on our house year-round. We had multiple companies quote our home between $5,000 and $7,000 in lights and fees, so this has saved us a lot of money. We get compliments from everyone in the neighborhood!”
“Installing the eternity lights was easy; the app is excellent,” adds another happy buyer. “The technology integration with Alexa works well, as does the WiFi communication. I am excited about having these lights and the ability to set up zones, so I can use lights in the backyard, the front of the house, or completely around the eaves.”
Needless to say, these lights are now high on my summer wish list. Whether you’re using them to add a romantic glow to an al fresco date night or choosing a fun color to correspond with your outdoor movie, they’re the perfect DIY-friendly add-on to a vacation-worthy escape — right in your own backyard.
